    Web & Digital Media Intern

    Ubuntu Education Fund offers full and part-time internships for undergraduates, advanced students, and recent graduates who are interested in gaining experience in the nonprofit sector. We are seeking a highly motivated, socially conscious Intern to help sustain Ubuntu’s life-saving work in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. This intern will not only join a passionate team of development professionals, but he/she will also benefit from the Ubuntu Internship Development Program.

    Ubuntu Internship Development Program:

    • Professional Skills Building: Projects that build communication skills, research capabilities, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, partnership capacities, and a contextualized understanding of development in Africa
    • Insight into Nonprofit Sector: Informal interviews with heads of departments across the organization, discussions of nonprofit and development trends, as well as access to industry professionals
    • Personalized Mentorship: Career guidance, regular feedback sessions with supervisor, and CV/resume building workshops
    • Real-World Development Experience: Working relationships and networking opportunities with nonprofit professionals based in South Africa, the United States, and the United Kingdom

    This spring, Ubuntu Education Fund will be launching a brand new website, revamping social media pages and strategy, and unveiling a number of exciting changes. The Web & Digital Media Intern will be an integral component to our success, and as such, the ideal candidate is highly organized, a self-starter, and a quick, diligent learner.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Manage Ubuntu’s multi-media library
    • Create a content archive that informs a content calendar
    • Track and analyze key metrics using Google Analytics and create summary reports
    • Track and analyze key metrics for Ubuntu’s social media accounts
    • Provide analytics-backed feedback for Ubuntu’s online marketing and communications strategies
    • Investigate and implement SEO best practices
    • Track and monitor Ubuntu’s Google Adwords account
    • Stay up-to-date on marketing practices and trends, suggesting areas for improvement as they come to your attention
    • Assist with various general support projects for Ubuntu’s External Relations departments and Executive Office
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    • Excellent writing, proofreading, research and communication skills
    • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and attention to detail
    • Personable and enthusiastic about our mission, with effective communication skills
    • Independent, self-start personality
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
    • Basic understanding of Google Analytics and familiarity with social media analytics preferred

    Eligibility:

    • Must be at least a college student in good standing, an advanced student, or a recent graduate
    • Must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours per week during the fall and spring (15 hours preferred) and 20 hours per week during the summer
