What You’ll Do…
This position is located in Houston, TX. Our intern program philosophy is to “recruit once, hire twice” with the hope to hire interns back into full-time or return internship roles.
The internship program assignments are 10-14 weeks in duration and are full-time in-person internships. The summer 2026 internship is expected to begin on May 17, 2026.
**Your Key Responsibilities: **
- Apply data science and analytics techniques to drilling and well construction datasets, including planning, operational, and post-well data.
- Support the development and evaluation of machine learning models for drilling use cases such as performance optimization, risk identification, pattern recognition, and decision support.
- Assist in data acquisition, cleansing, normalization, and feature engineering across structured and unstructured drilling data sources.
- Collaborate with Product Management, R&D, and domain experts to translate drilling workflows and customer needs into analytical and ML-driven solutions.
- Contribute to cloud-based SaaS workflows, supporting scalable deployment, validation, and continuous improvement of Landmark drilling products.
- Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) and develop visualizations and insights to communicate results to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Document methodologies, assumptions, and results to support productization and knowledge transfer.
- Participate in reviews with Landmark Leadership and product teams, gaining exposure to high-visibility digital drilling initiatives.
What You’ll Bring to Our Team
**Required Qualifications: **
- Strong foundation in statistics, data analysis, and machine learning fundamentals.
- Proficiency in Python, with hands-on experience using libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar.
- Experience working with real-world datasets, including data cleaning, validation, and handling missing or noisy data.
- Ability to clearly communicate analytical findings and technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, and willingness to learn complex domain workflows.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Geoscience, Geophysics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Reliable transportation to and from work daily is required.
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States both now and in the future; Halliburton will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.
**Desired Qualifications: **
- Coursework or project experience related to engineering, well construction, subsurface data, or energy systems.
- Familiarity with time-series data, spatial data, or engineering datasets.
- Exposure to drilling or well data such as trajectories, BHA data, torque & drag, hydraulics, logs, or real-time drilling data.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly, Power BI, or similar).
- Understanding cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and SaaS concepts.
- Interest in applying AI/ML to industrial and operational decision-making problems.
- A self-starter with strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across product, engineering, and research teams.
- Demonstrated leadership through academic projects, internships, research, or student organizations.
- A self-starter with leadership capabilities, innovative ideas and the ability to effectively express ideas to team members, project stakeholders, and management.
- Be able to partner with different functions within the Landmark organization such as Marketing and Research & Development.

Salary Range: $26/hour for students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree; $31/hour for students pursuing a Master’s; $36/hour for those pursuing a PhD
