    What You’ll Do…

    These positions are located at our R&D Facilities in Houston, TX.  Our intern program philosophy is to “recruit once, hire twice” with the hope to hire interns back into full-time or return internship roles.  

    The internship program assignments are 10-14 weeks in duration and are full-time on-site internships.  The summer 2026 internship is expected to begin on May 17, 2026.  

    **Your Key Responsibilities: **

    **Projects you could potentially work on include: **

    • Work with teams of engineers, product owners, to understand physics behind down-hole sensor tools and principles behind materials selection and testing.
    • Perform materials characterization on a wide range of metallic alloys systems (Fe-based, Ni-Based superalloys. Cobalt based hi-temp alloys) as well as non-metallic systems using a wide variety of analytical tools (SEM, XRF, EDS, FTIR, GC-MS, DSC, TGA etc.)
    • Perform a wide variety of materials testing for both metallic and non-metallic systems (fatigue testing, compatibility testing, rheological testing, wear testing, etc.)
    • Perform failure analysis on a variety of components exposed to down-hole environments
    • Contribute to the documentation, data analysis and report writing for various projects
    • Proactively learning about new technologies

      

    What You’ll Bring to Our Team

    **Required Qualifications: **

    • Reliable transportation to and from work daily is required.
    • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States both now and in the future; Halliburton will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.
    • Degree in Materials Science & Engineering (MSE), Metallurgical Engineering (MET), Corrosion Science & Engineering, Welding Engineering
    • Experience with materials characterization & testing, materials selection 
    • Ability & desire to work with a multi-disciplinary (Mechanical & Electrical) team

    **Desired Qualifications: **

    • Prior intern, co-op, or research experience
    • Strong analytical and technical skills
    • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
    • Self-motivated and results-oriented  
    • Strong problem-solving abilities 
    • Strong materials science fundamentals.
    • Understanding of data science, AI, statistics and ML. Basic coding experience is a plus
    • Any relevant experience in the areas of how AI integrates process optimization, automated characterization, data analysis and quality control
    • Understanding the current trends in materials development and the role of AI in powering this new frontier.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills

    This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. To qualify, your university and/or permanent address must be more than 50 miles from your work location.

    **Salary Range: $26 - $36/hour **
