Camp Matoaka is a premier girls’ camp on a beautiful lake in Maine. We are seeking awesome, young women to serve as mentors, coaches, teachers and role-models for our campers. Currently, we are seeking Fitness, Gymnastics, Lacrosse, Martial Arts, Soccer, Softball, Volleyball and Yoga Instructors for Summer 2017!

Camp Matoaka is an overnight, summer camp in Maine. Situated on over 150 acres of flat, grassy playing fields, woodlands and lakefront, Matoaka’s facility is top-notch. More important than a great facility, Matoaka has a family-type atmosphere and is often described as being fun, spirited, warm and caring.

Campers range in age from 7-15 and come from across the country. A majority of our campers, as well as many staff, return each summer to a place they call “home.”

Each summer, we hire 120 staff to come and spend their summer in Maine. All of our staff specialize, and are well-qualified, in one of the myriad activities we have at camp.

Our staff are paid well and benefits include room, board, laundry, free internet access and a travel allowance. We are currently looking for female staff to join our Fitness, Gymnastics, Lacrosse, Martial Arts, Soccer, Softball, Volleyball and Yoga Departments.

Athletics’ Program Description:

Our Athletics’ Program provides campers with instruction in the relevant rules, skills, competition techniques, and strategies in Basketball, Gaga Ball, Flag Football, Golf, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball, Tennis and (Beach) Volleyball. Playing experience is provided for girls of all ages.

Campers can play at daily games and activities or on our elective inter-camp sports teams. On the camp’s various fields, we provide instruction to small groups of campers organized according to age and skill level. All necessary equipment is provided.

Small group instruction is stressed to provide campers with individual practice and drills to learn and develop skills. After approximately 10-15 minutes of small group instruction (depending on the size of the entire class), the girls are brought together as a whole group to reinforce skills and play team games.

Coaching duties include announcing team sign-ups, holding team practices, and taking the girls to other camps for competitions.

Good sportsmanship and fun are stressed over winning or losing. Staff games are encouraged and should be organized by the department members in conjunction with the office staff.

Candidates should be able to teach basic rules and skills to younger campers and advanced skills, strategies, and techniques to the older campers. Individual skills are taught and emphasized during all camp activities. Coaches and/or College-level players are preferred but not required.

Most staff also serve as bunk counselors, living with a group of girls and 2-3 other staff members.
