    Internship - Youth and Family Initiatives (unpaid) The American Diabetes Association (The Association),the nation's leading health organization focused on diabetes, is seeking anenergetic and outgoing Youth & Family Initiatives intern. Through a varietyof activities focused on reaching the diagnosed and those at high risk fordiabetes, the Association works to achieve its mission: to prevent and curediabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a career inPublic Health, Community Development, Nutrition, or other Health Sciences.Candidate must be energetic, a team player, results-oriented and dedicated tothe achievement of personal and team goals. Intern will providesupport to Association staff and gain valuable skills and insights whileassisting with program planning, communications and advocacy, and volunteeroutreach. Theinterns role will be to support the Territory Directory of Youth and FamilyInitiatives primarily focused on: the local camp for kids, family engagement,high risk populations, and mission engagement. This unpaid internship can provide school credit, offers a flexibleschedule and valuable experience in the non-profit sector (approximately 15 to20 hours a week). The Youth & Family Initiatives Intern responsibilitiesinclude (but not limited to): * Become familiar with the mission, standards ofcare, and the programs and events of the American Diabetes Association * § Assistin the planning and execution of camp for kids, including related events andprograms for the Camp. * Attendthe local camp for kids on the event date (if possible) * Helpin planning and implementing community education sessions and events, such as Safeat School * Assistin the distribution Association educational materials * Assist with mailings and package assembly * Utilizes social network platforms to promote events * Visit local health care partners for continued engagement and to provide ADA resource materials * Provide educational workshop on diabetesawareness, prevention, and management to at-risk communities * Participate in the day of event activities (whennecessary) * Document activities (photos, video) to be sharedwith participants, families, partners, etc. * Assist at working health fairs and other community events * Must be a current college student (pursuingbachelors or masters) or recent graduate * Excellent organization skills * Eagerness to learn new things and work in a teamenvironment * Positive demeanor and outgoing personality * Excellent verbal and written communicationskills * Ability to prioritize and handle a variety ofassignments simultaneously * Ability to _travel_to ADA event sites as needed **Primary Location: **US-KS-Overland Park **Work Locations: ** **Job: **ADA Temp **Organization: **American Diabetes Association **Schedule: **Full-time **Job Type: **Internship **Job Posting: **Dec 28, 2018, 2:40:49 PM
