Commitment: The internship will be for the Fall of 2018 from September 4th December 6thHours: Full time (35 hours per week)Hourly Rate: $15.00 The Amnesty International USA Organizing & Activism Intern will work closely with the Youth & Student Program Manager to help reach goals related to growth, engagement and leadership development within the organization. Interns will work with the Organizing and Activism Unit to engage grassroots activism and grow membership among members and supporters in order to advance human rights campaigns. The Organizing and Activism Unit develops core activism tools and resources; supports school- and community-based AIUSA chapters; identifies and develops opportunities for interested individuals in the human rights movement; and engages activists in AIUSA campaigns and programs. The Organizing and Activism Intern reports to the Youth and Student Program Manager in Oakland, CA, and is part of the Campaigns and Membership Interns will learn about and support the youth program in key aspects of work, including: - Outreach and recruitment for key mobilizations and events - Resource development and dissemination - Student group registration and data management processes - Qualitative research and analysis of youth activism data - Project management - Strategic planning and goal setting Demonstrated commitment to human rights and social justice - Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail - Ability to work independently, self-direct, and collaborate with a team - Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently - Experience with activism, organizing, advocacy and/or campaigning - Creative problem-solving ability - Fluent with Microsoft suite applications (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) and internet applications
