    Youth Program Internship - Summer 2018 (0370) - Category: Campaigns & Membership - Region: West - Location: Oakland, CA - Type: Intern/ Volunteer - Full-time / Part-time : Part Time/ Full Time - FLSA: N/A (Intern) We are currently accepting applications for internships for Summer 2018 and will be reviewing on a rolling basis Amnesty International USA is seeking interns for the national youth and student program. The AIUSA youth and student program works to engage grassroots activism and grow membership among young people in order to advance human rights campaigns. The program develops core activism tools and resources; supports AIUSA high school and student chapters; identifies and develops opportunities for young people in the human rights movement; and engages young people in AIUSA campaigns and programs. Youth Program interns report to the Youth and Student Program Manager in Oakland, CA, and are part of the Campaigns and Membership Department. Interns will learn about and support the youth program in key aspects of work, including: - Outreach and recruitment - Resource development and dissemination - Student group registration process - Qualitative research and analysis of youth leadership development and activism - Database management and process / systems development - Project management - Strategic planning and goal setting The internship also includes some organizational service work, such as meetings, filing, and other necessary office work. We strive to provide a variety of opportunities, including intern specific trainings and seminars, for both professional development and growth as a human rights activist. Desired qualifications: - Demonstrated commitment to human rights and social justice - Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail - Ability to work independently, self-direct, and collaborate with a team - Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently - Research, writing and presentation skills (oral and written) - Experience with activism, organizing, advocacy and/or campaigning - Creative problem-solving ability - Working knowledge of Microsoft suite applications (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)
