  • Responsibilities

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Utilizes professional engineering knowledge to analyze, manage and execute research and development (R&D) in Distributed Radio Frequency (RF) Sensing technologies in alignment with branch and division technical priorities. 
    • Applies knowledge in signal processing, electromagnetic theory, physics-based modeling/analysis, and related scientific fields to analyze and resolve routine problems in AF sponsored technical efforts. 
    • Strives to expand technical skill in distributed RF sensing. Seeks out collaboration efforts across the branch and division to apply routine concepts to signal/data processing challenges.
    • Operates as a team member to conduct research and development through in-house and external means as appropriate.
    • Documents and presents technical progress.
    • Maintains electronic case files in accordance with directorate requirements.
    • Authors technical papers to document results to the Multispectral Sensing and Detection division

    Required Qualifications

    • US Citizenship
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a top-secret security clearance; this position is Special Sensitive

    • This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Engineering & Technical Management (N), Tier 1 - Foundational Non-Critical acquisition certification.  The selectee must meet, or be capable of achieving acquisition certification within 36 months after assignment.  This position also requires the employee to engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 80 continuous learning points every 24 months.  *Applicants must list all completed APDP certifications on their resume.
    • Position is eligible for situational telework and will require routine mission travel, regular classified engagements, and in-person meetings that cannot always be scheduled around a regular/recurring telework schedule. Employee must live within the commuting area of Wright-Patterson AFB.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Experience (projects or internships) related to research and development of RADAR systems and concepts
    • Knowledge of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), and/or Moving Target Indication (MTI)
    • Knowledge of radio frequency systems, including functions, design approaches, and performance metrics thereof
