    As a Medical Liaison you will ensure high quality medical care and services by coordinating, scheduling, communicating and documenting medical appointments and medical issues for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Other responsibilities include providing transportation to and from appointments, acting as a liaison between staff and community providers to share information obtained from medical appointments, and ordering and administering medications.

    Required Skills

    • Basic Computer Literacy as evidenced by the ability to go online and conduct basic searches on the Internet, check his/her email account, create and send e-mail with an attachment and use simple email features.   Can open spreadsheets and word processing documents to read and make simple edits.
    • Certified AMAP and familiarity with medical terminology.
    • Valid NYS driver’s license.
    • Must have access to timely and reliable transportation to transport self to multiple sites.
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
    • Demonstrated sensitivity and confidentiality towards others.
    • Ensures cultural competence in all program functions.
    • Strong problem solving ability and attention to detail

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Standing 25% of the time. Walking 25% of the time. Sitting 50% of the time.
    • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Frequently required to reach.
    • Required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 20 pounds of force frequently.
    • Close visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned, or perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
    • Individual may be exposed to infectious diseases.
    • Exposed to outdoor conditions when transporting people you support.

     

    Required Experience

     

    High School diploma. Experience in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
