Adjunct Faculty Playwriting - Department of Theater Arts

The Department of Theater Arts invites applications for adjunct faculty in playwriting to teach courses specializing in playwriting, script analysis and new works.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibility of adjunct faculty is to deliver instruction in the manner determined by the department. In addition, faculty responsibilities may include:
Preparation of syllabus and teaching of curriculum according to the goals and objectives of the department.
Student advising and office hours in relation to the course load carried, and as assigned in the faculty teaching assignment.
Participation in faculty meetings and departmental activities as identified by the department chair or program director, and assigned in the adjunct faculty contract.
Determine student mastery of material and assign final course grades from evaluation of tests, quizzes, homework, and other assignments and activities related to course material.
Responsible for daily electronic timekeeping as it applies to the scope of this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
WORKLOAD
Assigned teaching duties will not exceed 9 units per semester; office hours and additional duties may be assigned. Total workload will not exceed 29 hours per week, or 24 units per 12-month period.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent required. Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a Life Science concentration.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Convey a skilled phone manner for handling internal and external customers issues.
Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to work independently; demonstrate initiative and analytical ability; and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision and direction.
Computer Skills:
Capacity to cover a broad scope of technologies and functionalities such as password resets (all systems), Microsoft Windows issues or questions, assistance with Outlook or other Office products, etc. Along with these technical skills, this position requires general computer skills including Windows XP, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), etc. Working knowledge of the Misys Lab system to include patient reporting processes.
