Role Summary: Baker Hughes, a GE company has an opening for a Mechanical Design Engineer at our Center for Technology Innovation (CTI) facility in Houston, TX. In the role of the Mechanical Design Engineer you will work in the Completions and Production New Product Development group to work on innovative mechanical design, analysis, and hands-on testing of downhole completions equipment. Specific to this product line is the design and integration of sensors and actuators into downhole equipment. Projects will involve conceptual and detail design, prototype manufacturing, prototype testing, and product launch. Essential Responsibilities: * Assists in planning and conducting research, design, and development of standard engineering assignments. * Assignments will typically be a portion of a larger project. * Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and makes sound design recommendations. * Assesses results for applicability, validity, and conformance to specifications. * Assignments are reviewed for overall soundness and adherence to stated objectives. * Handles special projects, as assigned. Qualifications/Requirements: * BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 1+ years of mechanical design experience or MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering. * 3D modeling experience * Strong technical and analytical skills. * Good problem solving skills with a drive for results. * Good written and verbal skills. * Ability to build peer relationships as well as work independently. * Must be action oriented, ethical in value, and have a strong customer focus. Desired Characteristics: * SolidWorks experience a strong plus. * Direct (new product development) mechanical design experience a plus. * Oil and Gas experience a plus. * Knowledge or hands on experience with tool assembly a plus. * Previous mechanical test lab experiences a plus.
