DESCRIPTION: Assist electricians during the installation of new electrical systems or repair and maintain electrical systems. They must be in compliance with state and local wiring codes. They may install communications and computer equipment. Using a variety of hand and power tools, helper electricians productively and safely install wire and electrical cable which they measure, cut, bend and thread through metal tubing called conduits. They may assist in splicing wires at juncture points and feed/pull wiring into control centers and distribution boxes, transformers and transducers, switch gear and electrical outlets; and other permanent equipment, which they may also have helped to install. Duties include cleanup activity, gathering and transporting materials and tools to electricians on the construction project WORK SETTING AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: NOTE: This section reflects the physical activities that most people working in this occupation engage in during the course of a workday.
