Position Purpose: To further the mission of camp through the development of future counselors through activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the camper’s age and abilities. Manage program and counselor in training ("CIT") schedule and supervision with assistance from program supervisors and direct care staff.
Essential Job Functions:
Deliver a CIT program that is appropriate for the age and ability of the campers
Participate as a member of the camp management team to plan, direct, and supervise camp programs and functions.
Equipment Used: Coordinators should have basic knowledge of technology. They should also be familiar with camping equipment such as a water filter, tent, etc. Coordinators may be asked to use fire suppression equipment, washer and dryers, dishwashers, and specialty program equipment. Some may be asked to drive camp vehicles.
Physical Aspects of this Position:
Some physical requirements of a CIT Coordinator position include physical endurance including standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requirement for eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate program equipment and activities. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs. Must also have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering programs in the facility available. Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and exposure to various animals, plants, insects, and environmental conditions.
