    Policy and Research Intern Washington, D.C. May 08, 2018 Start Date: Immediately in the Washington, D.C. office. Minimum commitment of three months. About CFS: CFS empowers people, supports farmers, and protects the earth from the adverse impacts of industrial food and farming production, and promotes organic and sustainable food systems. CFS uses legal actions, policy initiatives, scientific and policy reports, and corporate and grassroots campaigns to reduce the impacts of industrial agriculture on the environment and human health. CFS has an integrated suite of issue areas, including: GMOs, organic foods, climate change, factory farming, pesticides, pollinators, food labeling, food safety, and more. Position Overview: CFS is seeking a highly motivated intern to work on cutting-edge food issues including genetically engineered foods (GMOs), climate change and food, organic agriculture, food safety, pollinators and pesticides, CAFOs/factory farms, and more. Interns help with research, writing, public outreach efforts, and policy campaigns. This is a great opportunity for those with a knowledge of and passion for the food movement who are interested in policy and grassroots advocacy. Required Skills/Qualifications: Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong research skills Ability to work independently, a self-starter, and able to juggle and prioritize multiple projects Highly professional, adaptable, and accountable Experience with or knowledge of the food movement, environmentalism, climate science, and/or sustainable agriculture Desired experience: Bachelor's degree or significant work experience in public outreach/education, marketing, communications, social media campaigns Compensation: $15 an hour (20 to 40 hours a week) To Apply: Email resume and cover letter to jobs@centerforfoodsafety.org explaining experience and/or interest in organic food and agriculture, food safety, and environmental issues.
