POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Account Supervisor position is a hands-on role, ensuring efficient work processes, system flows, as well as to track and evaluate day to day activities within the Accounting Department. You will also be responsible to lead the implementation of key department projects and the functional responsible for Chiquita’s accounting system. Position requires a solid understanding of accounting concepts and their application, ability to review and analyze information to develop a thorough understanding of the business systems, policies, procedures and the financial reporting process. Participates in the creation and development of department metrics and provides feedback on individual and team performance. Responsibilities include preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations, financial statement review and analysis, interim and year-end audit preparation, internal control compliance and documentation, and other accounting functions as assigned. Projects include the implementation of processes to support changing business needs and internal control compliance.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for timely and accurate month-end and year-end accounting close and associated tasks.
Prepare account reconciliations and review General Ledger account balances for compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
Ensure timely, accurate, quality preparation of the Company’s monthly financial statements.
Ensure adequate setup of ERP accounting system and interfaces
Coordinate implementation of Department's special projects.
Perform inventory accounting and inventory reporting for key product lines.
Prepare quarterly variance analysis reports.
Monitor changes in the business and the accounting transactions for improved reporting and accuracy of financials.
Work with Controllers and Tax departments for disclosure items.
Respond to requests from internal and external auditors.
Maintains a strong control environment, develops proper operational controls, data documentation and troubleshooting procedures.
Provide financial support to the business through teamwork with analysts to provide meaningful information and reporting of the business.
Works with large amount of data, interprets financial records, detect errors, and prepares financial reports.
Identify, communicate, and recommend solutions for accounting issues and problems.
Seek opportunities to streamline and improve accounting transactions and work with the business to provide accounting and analytical support to meet internal customer needs.
Delivers prompt, reliable responses and resolutions upon internal and external inquiries .
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
Minimum of 5-7 years General Accounting experience including Inventory Accounting
A thorough understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required.
3-5 years’ supervisory experience
Proven experience with account reconciliations, month, quarter, and year end closing
Demonstrated evidence of high confidentiality and credibility
Experience with implementation of ERP accounting systems
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Solid analytical and computer skills require
Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel including use of Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP’s, JD Edwards, HFM, SmartView, Sage.
Excellent analytical, research and problem-solving skills
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) a plus
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment
Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal
Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday
Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
Standard office equipment available
This position requires satisfactory passing of a drug test in accordance with Florida Statute § 440.102.
