POSITION PROFILE
The Senior Product Development Engineer is responsible for:
This position also requires the individual to participate in the design innovation process and requires the key ability to apply the design needs of Knoll, the customer, suppliers, and the appropriate regulating bodies to all job tasks.
Required Skills
Knowledge of materials and their proper application in systems furniture product design.
Solid understanding of ANSI\BIFMA & UL standards as related to the furniture industry.
Solve engineering problems using (But not limited to) FEA, FMA, DFMEA, etc.
Ability to Build & Prototype Designs for Design Reviews & Testing
Lead teams or subsets of teams in activities, projects and product launches appropriate to be led by Product Development.
Working understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles
Mechanical aptitude with a commitment to quality.
Understanding of manufacturing materials and processes, including but not limited to . . .
Excellent oral and written communication skills (English).
Work flexible hours, including the odd weekend.
Working understanding of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
Verification\Validation of designs through tolerance analysis, engineering calculations, prototypes, product testing, etc.
Work with manufacturing to resolve product design issues based on manufacturing constraints.
Ability to multi-task & to work on multiple projects at the same time.
Validate\Review Bills of Materials (BOM’s) for errors.
Ability to participate and\or lead design review and brainstorm meetings to ensure design goals are met.
Ability to work with customers and suppliers.
Follow Knoll’s safety expectations to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Must be willing to travel to Knoll sister sites, customer locations and supply bases. Including occasional international travel with associated work assignments.
