    The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for researching marketing opportunities, devising and implementing sales and marketing plans, leading the company’s sales force and support team, and directly generating sales with new and existing customers.

    KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE ROLE:

    • Identifying and growing market opportunities to achieve targets for new sales and profitability goals while adhering to the company's operating principles.
    • Developing a sales and marketing plan that supports the overall strategic direction of the company and delivers tactical and execution plans integrated through the entire organization.
    • Creating a strong sales and marketing team through ongoing development of required skill-sets and accountabilities to lead the organization through growth and change
    • Providing technical insight that supports engineering, quality, and existing product applications to foster cross-functional collaboration between departments and results in exceptional levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
    • Supporting the sales effort by delivering the tactical marketing plan on a communications, product and brand axis.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Hunts for new business development opportunities that align to the sales plan. Key activities include networking activities, participation in professional organizations, social media groups, and attending trade shows and conferences.
    • Establishes accountabilities and performance objectives. Conducts performance evaluations, identifies training needs, initiates professional development opportunities, and recommends effective action plans.
    • Provides orientation and on-the-job training for sales staff and ensures that the responsibility and accountability for each team member is defined and understood.
    • Establishes and implements sales training programs that build the professionalism and effectiveness of the salesforce.
    • Develops and implements sales plans which clearly define business development objectives, selling strategies, individual areas of accountability and performance goals.
    • Develops, implements and continually enhances the system and process for identifying, connecting and closing opportunities through consultative sales methods that enable the organization to analyze customer requirements and develop single-source solutions that differentiate Crown from its competitors.
    • Assists sales team with penetrating key accounts, making presentations to buying influences and negotiating and closing deals.
    • Creates and implements processes and systems for customer conversion. Acts as an internal resource and assists the sales team with account activities, coordinating requests and converting new customers. Monitors and verifies that processes for transitioning customers to operations post-sale are followed and customers standards for quality, service, and delivery are communicated and understood.
    • Oversees the development of branding and marketing strategies for creating awareness with target audiences, generating customer inquiries and diversifying the customer base and sales channels.
    • Leads the development and design of collateral materials and management of the company’s web and social media presence.
    • Manages public relations for the company and the brands, attends trade shows and special events.
    • Conducts ongoing market analysis to evaluate existing markets, determine new markets, new lines of business, customer needs and pricing strategies.
    • Investigates new products and creates business cases for expansion of product offering. Partners with Plant Operations to determine organizational capabilities and the feasibility of product development initiatives. Manages new product development project plans and launch schedules.
    • Serves as member of the strategic planning team, providing analysis and input on market trends, competitive intelligence, the product portfolio and business development strategies.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum of 5 years manufacturing sales experience required
    • Knowledge or experience with manufacturing operations and products
    • Management experience required; managing a sales team preferred
    • Experience with the board sports market, composites, and/or material handling a plus
    • Bachelors degree in related field required
    • Ability to create customer relationships with a consultative selling approach
    • Working knowledge of CRM systems a plus
    • Willingness to travel up to one week a month
