    Job Description

    Growing biotechnology company is looking for a Controller to add to their leadership team. The Controller will lead, as a business partner, the growth and cash flow of the business by managing all financial and accounting aspects of the business and support the CEO and the leadership team of the company to make. S/he will bring proven accounting leadership skills in a complex, fast paced, corporate environment. Using these skills, s/he will manage and oversee the day-to-day, weekly, monthly, and annual activities of the accounting & finance function. S/he will engage in regular dialogue with the leadership team and board of directors.

    Essential Duties:

     

    1. Establish, manage, direct and coordinate all accounting practices, procedures and initiatives

    2. Develop reports and dashboards to manage actual and forecasted cash burn. Responsible for monthly and quarterly financial deliverables, including project accrual, variance analysis, board reporting, budgets, etc.

    3. Provide the CEO accurate and complete information needed to understand and manage business performance in a timely manner

    4. Establish and maintain appropriate systems and internal control safeguards

    5. Collaborate effectively across functions and programs to understand key business drivers, and how such drivers affect performance. Develop and articulate clear, effective metrics to manage performance

    6. Build analytical frameworks and models to enable quality decision making

    7. Perform ad hoc analysis and duties as required, such as partnering assessments and board presentations

    8. Support the development of outward facing investor communications

    9. Maintain close contact with the leadership team to assist with financial expertise and communicate requirements. Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial analyses, reports, and recommendations.

    10. Ensure compliance with local and state financial, tax, etc. reporting requirements. Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted standards and tax requirements.

     

    ABOUT THE CANDIDATE

     

    · Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance; MBA is a plus

    · CPA and Big 4 accounting experience a plus

    · Work experience as an accountant or Controller in the life science industry

    · This position will be knowledgeable of highly confidential information. The person who fills this role will need to be able to handle confidential information accordingly.

    · Ability to multi-task and demonstrate diplomatic skills and drive timely results

    · Proficient verbal and written communication skills to convey and receive ideas and instructions to/from others within and outside the organization

    · Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers, management, suppliers and customers

    · Excellent judgment and critical-thinking skills

    · Familiar and comfortable with working in a small, growing company, able to work with all functions in the organization, able to work remotely

    · Ability to work remotely and to use collaboration tools (Zoom, Teams, SharePoint, etc.) to work effectively with a dispersed set of colleagues and consultants

    · IPO and M&A experience a plus

    · Experience with Adaptive Planning platforms a plus

    · Fluent in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
