  • Responsibilities

    Ensures payroll reporting and payments are compliant with company policy, generally accepted accounting principles, federal, state and IRS regulations. Researches and interprets federal and state regulatory requirements and resolves tax, withholding, garnishment, and wage/hour issues for payroll processing. Responds to auditing and regulatory inquiries. Also responsible for payroll tax activities, audit data compilation and coordination.

     

    • Update the Payroll Statistical Reconciliation Spreadsheet

    • Approve final escheat spreadsheet & work with Treasury & Finance identify those checks to escheat

    • Research local codes and accounts numbers for payroll system

    • Work with localities on new accounts to be setup for payroll deductions

    • Maintain spreadsheet of all locality & state codes and account numbers

    • Review all SUI rate changes

    • Review and act on all tax notification on software tax & compliance site

    • Research all charges from payroll vendor on jurisdiction and amendments and confirm charges

    • Assist with compiling audit request information

    • Assist and lead with all yearend tax tasks and functions with management

    • Head quarterly Tax TASK force meeting with Payroll team to act on all errors, tax concerns and payroll quarterly adjustments.

    • Complete Client Error report from payroll vendor

    • Ensure the processing of any monthly, quarterly & yearend adjustments

    • Manage mail merge for annual EITC letters

    • Assist with yearend memo for all employees

    • Assist with any current and future audits

    • Audit system for entry of all voids, manual checks and pay cards

    • Reconcile W2 preview file and create matrix of specific W2 audits

    • Handle all SUI & SIT credits with Management

    • Verification of all tax notices sent by payroll vendor

    • Responsible for quarterly and annual tax filing for USVI

    • Alert and work with Director of Payroll & HRIS on any delinquent tax issues

    • Special Reporting needs as they arise

    Required Skills Required Experience

    ✓ Associate Degree in Business Administration/Finance or equivalent level of knowledge in a relevant field

    ✓ 5+ years payroll tax experience performing all functions of payroll and tax

    ✓ Excellent customer service skills with an ability to effectively handle and resolve employee inquires and issues

    ✓ Excellent skills using MS Word, Excel, Access and Internet Explorer

    ✓ Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.

    ✓ Demonstrated high degree of professionalism and integrity

    ✓ Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy

    ✓ Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure.

    ✓ Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines

  • Qualifications
    • B.S. degree in a scientific, engineering, or other applicable technical or analytical discipline
    • Security Clearance: Top Secret with SCI (TS/SCI)
