    Scrum Master - REMOTE

Why you want to work at Flexion:

Flexion is looking for a Scrum Master who deeply understands agility and loves developing healthy agile teams to join our Flexion team in building a modern claims processing platform supporting Medicare beneficiaries across the country. This work will be done remotely within the United States. We are seeking someone who is both creative and intuitive in assessing problems and coaching teams to develop their own long term solutions.

At Flexion (an agile software company that’s been delivering excellence for over 24 years), our company culture is built on autonomy, trust, and transparency. We empower teams to remain autonomous and self-directed by hiring people who can solve complex problems by functioning collaboratively—this means lending a hand and flexing your multi-skilled muscles (coaching, facilitation, team building, conflict management, etc.) as needed. Every member within a cross-functional team is a leader who takes responsibility for the entire team’s success, which mirrors the company’s overall flat structure.

    What the job looks like:

As a member of a cross-functional Agile development team, you’ll empower your team and the customer by cultivating a team culture that embraces diverse perspectives while increasing trust, collaboration, and transparency.

    Specifically, you’ll:

    • Lead and facilitate scrum events and collaborative decision-making with your team.
    • Monitor and improve teamwork and team health.
    • Facilitate mutual accountability and candid team member peer feedback.
    • Promote interdisciplinary, real-time, collaborative problem-solving.
    • Champion human-centered design and agile principles and practices.
    • Enhance delivery through transparent communications and coordination.
    • Reach outside the team to the larger Flexion organization for support when appropriate.
    • Provide clients with process and progress transparency.
    • Bridge the team's agile process and the client’s project management expectations.
    • Coach clients in understanding and applying agility and agile methods.
    • Collaborate with other Flexioneers to advance and improve agility at Flexion.

Why we want to hire you:

You understand how a team can design and deliver software products incrementally, while still thinking about how those increments fit into the whole. You view adapting to change as a superpower and never look at anything you deliver as “final.” You understand that building real software for real people is more of a people problem than a technical one. You’re never satisfied with the status quo and continually experiment with different ways of doing things. You’ve helped to deliver different kinds of software, for different clients, with different technologies, and that variety suits you.

    You have:

    • 5+ years of experience working in software engineering as a Scrum Master OR Agile Coach
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal
    • Self-motivated, strong communication and collaboration skills
    • A passion for learning new collaboration and problem solving techniques
    • A willingness to experiment with new creative methods of Scrum facilitation
    • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

At Flexion, we live by these principles:

    • Speak openly and honestly with your colleagues and clients about problems and proposed solutions
    • Welcome and handle changing requirements and priorities with little or no warning
    • Collaborate online in small groups about 50% of the time
    • Encourage simple and minimal solutions that keep options open
    • Expect and vocally advocate for quality first
    • Learn new practices and techniques as the situation demands
    • Ensure the teams develop demonstrable software every week or two
    • Do what needs to be done to deliver the product or project without ego or attitude
    • Dig deep to find the root causes of problems so we can create the right solutions
    • Relentlessly improve yourself, your team, and your processes
