The Licensed Vocation Nurse performs a variety of patient care activities/interventions for patients of varying ages under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Required Skills

1. Provides patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse and consistent with policy and procedure.
2. Provides for safety and security needs of the patient.
3. Communicates verbally and in writing, consistent with policy and procedure.
4. Demonstrates competence in performing activities delegated by the Registered Nurse.
5. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or service appropriate to the age of all the patients served in the nursing unit/department.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

1. License/Registration/Certification Current license as a LVN in the State of Texas. Current CPR.
2. Education and Training: Graduate of an accredited school of vocational nursing.
3. Skills:

* Possesses effective oral and written communication skills
* Technically competent in tasks within the scope of practice of an LVN
* Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions
* Ability to utilize computers for documentation purposes
