  • Responsibilities

    Radiance Technologies, a rapidly growing, employee-owned company supporting multiple technology development efforts, is searching for a talented R&D Software Engineer to join the Advanced Projects Division of our Microwave Technologies and Systems Development Operation. Radiance is looking for a self-starter with experience drawing from several computer science, mathematics, and software engineering technical skillsets to perform software development tasks in support of research into topics including electronic and electromagnetic systems, high power microwave (HPM) systems, space systems, quantum chemistry, multi-physics modeling, and quantum information systems.

     

    The work will include collaboration with scientists, engineers, and technicians to perform simulations, develop software tools for performing experiments, collect and analyze data from experiments, and prepare scientific and technical reports. Flexibility is a must, as given tasks include a wide variety of domain areas in support of the mission: numerical methods and scientific computing; high-performance computing; formal logic and semantics; knowledge representation, AI/ML, and expert systems; embedded systems; power, analog, and digital electronics; RF and microwave propagation and effects; materials science; and quantum theory.

     

    The candidate will be expected to participate in discussions of engineering research with other interdisciplinary team members to assist in formulating software feature requirements and tailoring the software to the goals of the research program. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree computer science, mathematics, electrical/computer engineering, or a related area. The candidate must be capable of independent research and development.

     

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Familiarity with object-oriented or functional programming paradigms
    • Knowledge of the any of the following topic areas: expert systems, knowledge representation, machine learning, database theory, query languages, formal languages and grammars, abstract computing models, and algorithms development
    • Experience with any of the following additional languages, APIs or technologies: Java Swing, Protégé, OWL API, SPARQL, Maven, MongoDB, JAAS, Visual Studio, C#/.NET, IntelliJ, Python, Keras/TensorFlow, PyTorch, JavaScript and other web languages
    • Experience with various terminal environments and the applicable commands within a Unix-like operating system
    • Ability and desire to quickly learn new domains for research projects that support the customer’s goals
    • Basic familiarity with standard electrical laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, multimeters, and power supplies

     

    Required Skills

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related area
    • Minimum GPA of 3.2 (Please show your final GPA on your resume to be considered) 
    • Proficiency in one of the following programming languages: Java, C, C++, Python
    • US citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance
    • Experience or education in using standard software engineering practices such as version control, CI/CD, and familiarity with Agile development processes
    • Self-motivated team player with excellent communication skills
