    Job Overview

    The Sensors Directorate (AFRL/RY) seeks to hire a Division Chief (senior-level DR-4) in the Aerospace Components and Subsystems Division to serve to advance the Air Force weapon system sensing capabilities and enhance the war-fighter survivability at Wright Patterson AFB, OH.

    THIS POSITION IS OPEN TO CURRENT AFRL EMPLOYEES ONLY.

    This position is only open to current DR-04 (or equivalent grade) level candidates for reassignment. The salary range for this position, including Dayton, OH locality, is $159,735 - $197,516.

    The incumbent of this position will serve as the Aerospace Components and Subsystems Division Chief leading the discovery, development, and integration of aerospace components and subsystems for sensor and countermeasure technologies for our air and space force warfighters. They will represent AFRL core competencies and direct efforts in support of the assessment, maturation and discovery of electronics technologies to accelerate the insertion of critical military-relevant electronics. The incumbent will report to the Director, AFRL/RY.

    Position duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Lead a combined civilian, military, and contractor team (approx 250 personnel) to accomplish AFRL/RY and division goals by serving as a second-level supervisor.
    • Provide oversight of a ~$150M division research portfolio in pervasive emerging electronics and subsystems across the electromagnetic spectrum across basic and applied research and advanced development programs.
    • Execute strategic investments in research infrastructure through management of over 30 world-class laboratory facilities.
    • Collaborate across a diverse research and customer community to accomplish, execute and coordinate joint actions, to include with the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), NASA, other agencies, and foreign governments to integrate a strategic vision at the national and/or international level.
    • Serve as the principal advisor to the Sensors Directorate leadership in the technology area of enabling sensor devices, components and emerging electronics in support of cost, size, weight, and power efficiencies.
    • Lead division team to plan, execute, and transition research programs across a wide spectrum of electronics activities including microelectronics, trusted systems, sensor components, and subsystem integration.

    • Specialized Experience Statement: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade of DR-03, or equivalent in other pay systems. This includes experience in technology development programs and managing highly technical contracted projects and project teams in photonics and microelectronics, or other relevant technologies.”

    • Must be able to obtain/maintain a Top Secret with access to SCI and SAP security clearance, as a condition of employment.
    • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent will be subject to random testing.
    • This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program(APDP) position requiring Level/Tier 2 (Practitioner) Non-Critical certification in Engineering and Technical Management (N); experience is 4 years; and the selectee will have 60-months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained. *Applicants must list all completed APDP certifications in their resume.
    • Position is eligible for situational telework and will require routine mission travel, regular classified engagements, and in-person meetings that cannot always be scheduled around a regular/recurring telework schedule. Employee must live within the commuting area of Wright-Patterson AFB.
    • PCS expenses, if authorized, will be paid IAW the JTR and Air Force regulations. Centrally managed PCS costs paid by the Career Field Team. No DNRP authorized.
    • Ability to perform TDY travel approximately 25% of time.
