    Laboratory Chemist Location: -Company:ExxonMobil -Job Role Summary The Laboratory Chemist maintains high levels of quality control and quality assurance for the certification testing of finished polymer products. In addition, the chemist provides technical support and aids in problem solving to the operating units. A successful candidate is responsible and accountable for all laboratory activities under their direction. Primary Job Functions Actively engages in the laboratory and sites safety program Maintains quality systems relating to data generation and customer satisfaction Provide technical leadership/support for and drive improvements in established test methods (e.g. ASTM or company specific) in the laboratory Develop new analytical test methods as directed/needed by the business Participate in global networks to share best practices and improve processes Maintains statistical quality control (SQC) records for laboratory equipment Provide recommendations/justifications for new instrumentation purchases Steward lab deliverables Job Requirements Ph.D. in Analytical, Organic or Physical Chemistry or equivalent field. Master's degree candidates will be considered with relevant experience. Strong analytical skills Strong leadership and interpersonal skills Commitment to high standards and concern for accuracy Strong verbal and written communication skills Proficient in the general use of computers Willing and able to relocate geographically within ExxonMobil after 3-4 years of experience in the manufacturing arena Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Experience/background in one or more of the following techniques is preferred: Polymers Chemistry, Gas Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, X-ray Florescence Spectroscopy (XRF), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) or Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) Experience in lab quality control and statistical techniques is desirable Alternate Location: ExxonMobil is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
