    Job Overview

    Air Force Research Laboratory Directed Energy Directorate (AFRL/RDSS) is accepting applications for the position of Government Facility Management Specialist until 1 August 2025.

    Position duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Serves as Senior Facilities manager for all facility-related programs in AFRL/RDS New Mexico sites.
    • Oversee unique research and development facilities located at the Starfire Optical Range (SOR) and West Side Facilities (WSF) involving limited technical issues as well as specific and well-defined objectives.
    • Acts as AFRL/RDS Facility Manager responsible for planning, managing and coordinating all work requirements to improve, maintain and support SOR/WSF. -Plans and directs comprehensive programs for the operation, maintenance, repair and improvement of the facilities and equipment for the Optics Division. -Determines operating and maintenance requirements, forecasts resource requirements, and evaluates program effectiveness through inspections, budget controls and management improvement plans.
    • Oversees the development and implements safety, environmental and energy conservation programs consistent and compliant with state, Federal, Air Force and DoD policies.
      -Identifies issues & implements necessary corrective action.
    • Coordinates resources including personnel, service contracts, financial programs, space utilization, & information resources.
    • Budgets/executes facility management financial programs that often require frequent modifications, additions for new equipment site preparation, and service modifications, while preventing waste and abuse in execution.
    • Advocates and negotiates facility space utilization to promote R & D personnel efficiency, comply with AFOSH standards, and avoid spending for unnecessary alterations.
    • Ensures that training and qualifications of contract personnel are appropriate for assigned tasks.
    • Implements & evaluates general safety & fire safety risks, facility response to emergencies and the hazardous materials & waste programs.
    • Acts as the chair of the review board & attends staff meetings, working groups, & coordinates with various personnel to accomplish facility operations & maintenance activities.
