    YOUTH EMPOWERMENT STEWARD (YES) – STEWARDS INDIVIDUAL PLACEMENTS

    PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

    Join us and learn about a career in land management and conservation programming while operating as a critical voice for access within our public lands. Youth Empowerment Stewards (YES) internships are seasonal, 12-week positions supported Conservation Legacy’s Stewards program. YES internships are available to individuals with a disability 18-26 years of age and Veterans up to age 35. 

     

    POSITION DETAILS

    Stewards Individual Placement Program (SIPP) provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. The YES program interns focusing on barriers to entry for individuals with disabilities in the outdoor workplace. This position will be working as a YES Intern assisting in the understanding, strengthening, and growth of our Youth Empowerment Steward service opportunity. This position will focus heavily on engaging, recruiting, and supporting the next generation of land stewards from within the disability community. The Stewards YES member will assist in the creation of an outreach and engagement plan, equip staff with a process for engaging candidates, create materials to share this opportunity more broadly, and build relationships with schools to amplify these opportunities to the individuals who seek them.

     

     

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

    • 18-26 years of age (maximum 35 years old for Veterans with valid DD-214)
    • US citizen or legal resident
    • Full vaccination against COVID-19 by the first day of employment and ability to provide proof of vaccination before starting
    • Flexibility, adaptability, and capacity to work in a fluid, changing work
    • Pass background checks: all offers of positions are conditional upon completion of an acceptable check of the National Sex Offender Public Registry and Federal and/or State criminal background
    • Expected to take a serious attitude toward safety.

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Familiarity with research
    • Ability to work independently
    • Strong Computer/internet/social media skills

    Required Skills Required Experience

  • Qualifications
    • Demonstrated creativity, passion and interest in design and planning of laboratories within technical facilities.
    • Advanced knowledge of technical and regulatory requirements for laboratory design.
    • Advanced knowledge of laboratory programming delivery and how design impacts those systems – including space, operational, and equipment programming, as well as MEP systems and casework.
    • Advanced knowledge of laboratory planning, design, construction documents, construction administration and project construction cost control for lab facilities.
    • Advanced knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines.  
    • Possess strong hand and advanced CAD drafting skills.
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Architectural Desktop preferred.
    • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Proficiency in 3D Modeling software such as 3D Studio Max and Viz 2006 preferred.
    • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software preferred.
    • Proficiency in Revit or other BIM platform preferred.
    • Proficiency in NewForma preferred.
    • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing; ability to convey laboratory planning needs to designers and other team members.
    • Ability to work in team environment and supervise others.
    • Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
