    TITLE:                            Associate Dean, Communications and Humanities

    SECTION:                      Academic Affairs/Science and Mathematics      

    HIRING SALARY:         $75,000.00 annually 

    HOURS:                         8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday – Friday

    MAJOR FUNCTIONS: The Associate Dean of Science and Mathematics is housed within the Science and Mathematics division and will report to the Dean. The Associate Dean will provide leadership in the planning, direction, and evaluation of the academic unit in conjunction with the Dean. Responsibilities include the efficient and effective operation of the division via the administration of faculty and staff and the management of student issues and concerns to help ensure student success in each of the division’s classes and/or programs and initiatives. Assist dean in the effective leadership in the operation and advancement of the division and Programs as assigned. Performs assessment of existing programs, and research for new ones, and makes improvement plans where warranted. Tracks and plans effectively for changes in local, state, and federal laws as they affect the division. Ensures quality instruction and consistent practices for off campus sites and centers, including dual credit. Assists with the administration of all assigned programs in accordance with administrative policies and procedures. Research grant opportunities and may serve as lead. Direct responsibility for recruitment, scheduling, payroll activities and retention and success of adjunct faculty across disciplines within the division.  Works with Program Chairs as appropriate. Initiates innovation and creativity in faculty development and exercises leadership in creating a supportive learning environment for students and faculty. Assesses student achievement and retention, and implements continuous improvement as appropriate. Coordinates with dean to prepare and maintain assigned budgets, and faculty assignment contract assignments. Coordinates the timely submission of unit plans in keeping with the goals and objectives of the Division. Supervises faculty assignments, including credential verification, teaching performance, student evaluations of instruction surveys, and professional improvement. 

    MINIMUM TRAINING EXPERIENCE: Must possess a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. A Master’s degree in a discipline related to a program offered within the Division is required.  Three (3) years of successful full-time equivalent teaching and/or administrative work experience at the College level.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of enrollment management practices including assessment of student success, learning outcomes and the development and implementation of appropriate retention strategies. Ability to critically analyze student data and develop short and long-range plans based on the goals of the College. Ability to direct the activities of full and part-time faculty and staff in the academic unit. Personal and educational philosophy compatible with the goals, objectives, and missions of TCC. Demonstrated experience using a personal computer, office software such as MS Office, and electronic mail.  Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public. Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment. Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment at all times and in all contexts and maintain client confidentiality. Ability to work effectively with all constituencies of the College. Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and present legal and governmental information in a meaningful manner

    REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 

    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • To qualify, you must be between the ages of 18 and 30 
    • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. 
    • A US citizen that has received (or on track to receive) a high school diploma or GED 
    • All offers of employment are conditional upon completion of an acceptable check of the National Sex Offender Public Registry and federal criminal background check.

    • If taking prescription medications, participants must be able to maintain proper dosage without assistance from others.

    • Learn and safely perform fundamental outdoor living and work skills as appropriate to the project. 
    • Live in a physically demanding, possibly remote environment for an uninterrupted period of up to several weeks
