    POSITION SUMMARY

    Under minimum supervision, design and support of Control Cabinet from customer supplied specifications. Work with Engineering Supervisor and Engineering Manager to develop a complete control package design to support Mitsubishi Electric Automation (MEAU) manufacturing and to meet the customers’ needs and requirements.

    POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Essential Functions
    • Review and verify customer specifications (Schematic & Cable drawings, Electrical Component Lists, etc.).
    • Create, update, modify electrical schematics, and layout drawings to communicate change recommendations to customer.
    • Redesign and modify customer specifications to reduce material and labor cost.
    • Manage multiple projects and communicate with other departments to make sure documentations are released on time to meet delivery schedule.
    • Prepare and create complete system BOM in SAP.
    • Create an assembly drawing package based on customer specification to assist prototype and assembly in manufacturing the control cabinets.
    • Design cables and spec out components from power calculations.
    • Review, verify and update customer supplied sheet metal drawings.
    • Create quotations based on customer specifications.
    • Be able to interpret various UL standards, especially UL508A.
    • Use AutoCAD to create Assembly, Point Wiring and Cable drawings.
    • Create Engineering Change Notice (ECN) to support customer design change requests.
    • Create Material Master, BOM and Change Master in SAP.
    • Utilize Win-shuttle/DMS to upload/maintain drawings on the website.
    • Support and maintain Engineering Department ISO9000 Documentations.
    • Perform other job functions as assigned.

    Travel Requirements ( <10%)

    • Minimum travel to customers’ sites for Prototype Power up evaluation as needed.

    ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • BSEE or BSEET degree (or equivalent experience) plus 5 to 8 years of Electrical Engineering design experience.
    • Be able to read schematic drawings and translate to point wirings.
    • Be able to apply UL/NFPA Standards to size/verify electrical components and cables.
    • Be able to operate AutoCAD and/or Solidworks (Electrical and Mechanical) software.
    • Experience in sheet metal design.
    • Computer proficiency – Knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Access).
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate with and maintain effective relationships with customers, vendors, and team members.
    • Teamwork orientation.
    • Attention to details is required.

    BENEFICIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Experience in Panel Building preferred.
    • Experience in Power Distribution preferred.
    • Knowledge in NEC/NFPA79 codes a plus.
    • Experience in SAP a plus.

    This is a hybrid position, 3 days in the office and 2 days remote. The location is Vernon Hills, IL.
