    POSITION DETAILS

    Stewards Individual Placement Program (SIPP) provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. Participants work with federal agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits building institutional capacity, developing community relationships, and supporting ecosystem health. SIPP in partnership U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are seeking an intern who will focus on providing natural resource outreach and education to the public in New York state. The intern will work with our biologists to engage the public through mechanisms such as social media, web site development, blog posts and pod casts, and outreach events. The goal is to have a more informed and engaged public valuing their natural resources.

     

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

    • Generate natural resource information and distribute through social media - Create and post at least three Facebook posts per week - Create and publish a blog post at least once every two months - Update the website quarterly
    • Engage in outreach activities in the field - Participate in partner outreach events
    • Develop education signage -Work with partner landowners to develop education signage for their sites
    • Work with supervisor and GIS tech to select and map testing sites that will provide a wide/inclusive sample size area
    • Locate testing sites, take photo test site, and collect water samples at each designated site
    • Keep records of sites tested, analyze sample, record and enter data from test samples into appropriate NPS databases.

     

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, media arts, marketing, writing, or a related area of environmental sciences study
    • Strong writing and oral communication skills
    • Self-motivated and enjoys working independently and/or comfortable working in a team setting
    • Competency in developing content for a variety of social media outlets
    • Communicates well with people from a variety of backgrounds and age groups
    • Able to traverse over uneven terrain, unmarked paths, and wet conditions

     

     

     PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience with photography and photo/video editing
    • Ability to translate information into writing for both scientific and lay audiences
    • Experience with website development
    • Experience with creation of a variety of outreach materials
    • Comfortable in a variety of media and web editing programs
    • Ability to assist with field work
    • Experience developing, organizing, and executing outreach campaigns

    IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

     

    • Lead processes to ensure Shared Services has robust financial planning tools to accurately plan for, predict and report on actual business results vs plans including leading the annual Budget process, managing the daily/monthly/annual Financial Reporting processes, and partnering with the Shared Services CFO to ensure a robust financial forecasting process.
    • Prepare Executive and Board Charts that tell the story behind the financial performance of the Company.
    • Lead and develop a team capable of partnering with the CFO and Division Finance teams to create and present financial analysis to support business decisions.
    • Partner with Corporate IT to ensure Shared Services has databases & tools available to easily report and analyze financial data with the ability to “slice & dice” information to understand trends and where the business is & isn’t profitable.
    • Prepare and report on bank compliance.
    • Ensure compliance with financial reporting principles and requirements.
    • Lead valuation of M&A activity.
    • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and commitment to quality.
    • Partner with accounting to compile and consolidate financial reports across subsidiaries, ensuring data integrity and facilitating review.
    • Develop and maintain KPI reporting to assist in budgeting, & forecasting, compensation analysis as well as to drive acquisition strategy.
    • Analyze variances to budgets/forecast/prior year to help ensure complete and accurate recording of results.
    • Assist in designing and implementing finance processes for acquisition evaluation, modeling, and due diligence.
    • Think critically about accounting and finance processes to drive automation, efficiency, accuracy, and other improvements.
    • Participate in special projects as needed – such as research, valuation analyses, decision support, and ad hoc reporting requests.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
    • 10+ years of progressive experience in Finance or Accounting Management. Both public and private accounting experience, preferred.
    • 5+ years of experience leading and developing finance/accounting teams.
    • Financial leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
    • Experience in M&A required.
    • Ability to learn and navigate effectively in the JD Edwards ERP system, strong database knowledge (BI preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
    • Excellent data analysis and trend identifications skills with the ability to show the impact of the analysis on the financial statements
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization.
    • Exceptional judgment and creative problem solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
    • Demonstrated skills in coaching employees and facilitating process and cultural changes.
    • Ability to present analysis/financial reports and insights to business leaders
    • Candidates should be comfortable navigating through ambiguity and managing multiple priorities.
