    Building Facilities Maintenance Attendant/Technician Lindsay connects people with wildlife to inspire responsibility and respect for the world we share. It is a unique natural history and environmental education center where live wild animals are just inches away from visitors. It serves more than 100,000 children and adults and treats more than 5,500 animals each year. Lindsays Hospital is a pioneer in the field of wildlife care and was recognized in 2015 by The New York Times Magazine as Americas oldest wildlife rehabilitation center. The Position The Operations Technician (Building Facilities Maintenance Attendant) reports to the Director of Operations and carries out diverse maintenance activities fundamental to the maintenance and use of the facilities. Overall duties may include light carpentry, pest control, painting, general upkeep and repair, cleaning, grounds maintenance, among others. The Operations Department works collaboratively with staff and volunteers to accomplish work goals. Primary Responsibilities Complete and report maintenance requests submitted via work order system Assess and resolve repair and maintenance issues onsite Perform routine preventive maintenance Maintain material and supply inventory Fix and maintain property grounds Move and maintain furniture Transport goods and/or equipment as needed Perform janitorial duties as necessary to maintain clean facilities Performs other maintenance duties as assigned by the Operations Supervisor Set-up/break down of events (tables, chairs, AV when necessary) Qualifications At least two years of experience in facilities maintenance or related field Able to walk, bend, stoop, balance, and reach for extended periods of time Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds Able to work independently without direct supervision Able to work effectively under pressure, and against limited time constraints Able to prioritize and work cooperatively with staff volunteers from various departments Must have a high school diploma or GED and valid California drivers license PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Medium strength demands include lifting 20-50 pounds occasionally, 10- 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly. Requires handling, using vision and hearing, and talking. Frequently requires standing, fine dexterity, walking, lifting, sitting, reaching, pushing/pulling, balancing, and twisting. Occasionally requires carrying, kneeling, foot controls, bending, and crouching. Rarely requires climbing. NON-PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Knowledge of how to read and interpret architectural electrical, mechanical and facilities blueprints. OVERALL WORKING CONDITIONS: Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Primarily office environment and infrequent outdoor event and/or outreach sites. Hours, Benefits & Compensation This is a full-time, 40-hour a week, position. Nights and weekend will be required. Pay is negotiable.
