Position Summary The Graphic Designer creates design solutions for a wide variety of channels including Audubons award-winning quarterly print and digital magazine, as well as work on corporate communications, materials for the Audubon network, and other designed materials as needed, such as posters, brochures, booklets and manuals, reports, and others. The graphic designer will be a person who can access creativity while maintaining Audubons brand guidelines throughout all materials he or she creates. This position will report to the Art Director. Please submit a cover letter (include a link to a portfolio site in the letter) and resume.* Essential Functions Use Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) and pre-press techniques to design and produce editorial content layouts for print magazine. Conceptualize and design standard communications, including brochures, posters, manuals, reports, etc. Work collaboratively with teams throughout Audubon in executing projects and campaigns. Use a strong knowledge of typography and layout design to perform FOB, BOB and feature design work with an ability to produce layouts creatively within a format. Bring creativity and fresh thinking to the design of custom print and online publications. Conceptualize with art and photography directors and work closely with contributing artists. Use map making and design skills to present all types of geographical data in visual formats including infographics and data visualizations. Qualifications and Experience Bachelors degree in related field along with 2+ years experience in a competitive, deadline-driven, and professional design environment is essential. Experience in editorial print design and corporate communications. Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and knowledge of content management systems. Strong understanding of graphic design software, typography, and knowledge of printing and digital design processes are required. A definitive creative vision, a high level of design sophistication, a keen eye for photography, and strong typography skills are essential. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail as well as the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects simultaneously is absolutely essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently. Experience with infographic design, conceptualizing data and illustration assignments a plus. Experience in branding work a plus.
