    SW Oregon Steward The Nature Conservancy, Ashland, OR Job - Non-Profit Post Date: 01/02/2019 Close Date: 01/25/2019 Are you a nature enthusiast that enjoys ecological monitoring and working with volunteers? Do you have an interest in gaining experience working in vernal pool, grassland, oak, chaparral, forest, and wetland plant communities in southern Oregon for the 2019 field season? Our SW Oregon Steward position could be the right opportunity for you to grow your knowledge and skills! As the SW Oregon Steward you will assist with biological and ecological data collection, invasive plant mapping and control and important vernal pool restoration activities. Additionally, you will gain experience leading volunteer crews who are instrumental to our restoration successes at the Table Rocks and other preserves. Youll build upon your GPS skills through frequent data collection and gain exposure to GIS mapping software and Excel. The SW Oregon Steward role is a 35 hour per week, 4.5-month seasonal position that beings in March and ends in July 2019. Our preferred hiring range is: $21.58-$22.93. The ideal candidate will have a background and track record that includes: BA/BS/AS/Technical or vocational degree in science-related field and 1 year related experience in custodial and ecological land management or similar field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with natural systems. Experience in ecological land management principles. Experience with GPS and interpreting mapped information Experience performing physical work Experience working in a team environment Experience operating and or repairing various types of equipment and machinery. Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record. Some desired knowledge, skills and experience that would be helpful: Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated. 1 2 years related experience in custodial and ecological land management Ability to recognize plant and animal species to complete preserve management activities.
