  • Responsibilities

    The plant Controller is an integral part of the plant management team as well as a key member of the corporate Finance team. As such, this position requires direct involvement in both plant operations and corporate finance activities and initiatives as required. Duties include overall responsibility for accuracy and timeliness of financial and operational management information to be used in reporting financial results as well as managing the facility.

    Key activities include completing month end closing in accordance with corporate requirements, ensuring compliance with corporate requirements and preparing forecast and budgets in close partnership with the plant manager. The Plant Controller will oversee all local cost accounting and ensure completeness and accuracy.

    Essential Functions:

    • Ensures completeness and accuracy of the plant financial statements and accounting activities.
    • Prepares weekly and monthly variance analysis to support manufacturing operations.
    • Responsible for proper recording, reporting, analysis and review of key performance measurements (Operational and Financial).
    • Guide plant efforts in assessing cost shortfalls from forecast and/or other cost commitments.
    • Monitor all activities and ensure compliance to all corporate standards.
    • Provide financial support to plant manager and provide insights regarding local operations.
    • Analyze inventory discrepancies and monitor corrective actions with department Managers.
    • Reviews account reconciliations prepared by others.
    • Assist in leadership of local physical inventory process and procedures.
    • Performs various projects and analysis as required.
    • Manages forecasting and budgeting activities for the plant and provide analysis of differences.
    • Organize & support efforts to reduce unfavorable variances and targeted cost reduction.
    • Provide additional insight to operations on metrics such as scrap, cost of quality, labor, inventory fluctuations and obsolescence.
    • Oversees cost accountant and participates in plant costing activities as needed.
    • Responsible for completion of local payroll and payroll spend analysis.
    • Reconcile all inventory and ensure accuracy of inventory records.
    • Manage and obtain local approval for all requests on capital expenditures.
    • Maintain local fixed assets tracking and tagging.   
    • Creates and maintains account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial statements.
    • Assists in the yearly audit preparation and completion.
    • Adhoc reporting and analysis to support plant spending.
    • Performs various projects and analysis as required.

    Required Skills

     

    Required Experience

    Education: 

    • BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

     Experience:

    • Seven to ten years of experience in finance and accounting.
    • Previous experience as Plant Controller.
    • Previous cost accounting experience preferred.
    • Experience in manufacturing environment.
    • Significant, detailed experience with JDE business systems or other integrated business system.
    • Experience with multi-site locations, including foreign operations.
