Purpose Are you a Chemist who has working knowledge in instrumentation and chemical process? If so then bring your skills to Newmont to help achieve world class gold production. Essential Duties -Interacts with lab personnel on troubleshooting, Flow Injection, Titration, Carbon/Sulfur characterization, and classical wet chemical methods. -Provide assistance to Process operations and Metallurgical laboratory on projects where assistance is needed to determine chemical interferences or interactions. -Operates Instrumentation, ICP, Atomic Absorption Spectrometers, X-ray fluoresces using advanced interference correction functionality. -Develop analytical process. Conduct statistical analysis. -Performs sample decomposition using alternative techniques such as microwave and fusions. -Plan changes in methods and/or equipment; including, specification of instruments, modification of lab facilities, method development, documentation, training, and implementation. -Plans, schedules and coordinates detailed laboratory testing for nonroutine samples. -Develops and evaluates new methodologies and establishes acceptance criteria. -Supervises quality assurance and development group in absence of Sr. Chemist. -Supports operational needs of Laboratory General Forman and Sr. Chemist. -Utilizes LIMS database to maximize lab efficiency. The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive. Training & Experience -Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. -1year of operation of general laboratory equipment preferred. -2 years laboratory experience preferred. -Communication Skills both written and verbal. -Computer skills spreadsheets, word processing, databases, query and data analysis tools. Working Conditions -Laboratory environment, standing at bench height, sitting, lifting up to 50 lbs unassisted.
