Purpose Mine Engineering provides support for mine operations, new projects and corporate development. This includes pit limit analysis, mine design, mine scheduling/optimization, equipment scheduling and cost estimation. Essential Duties Scope and Responsibilities The internship will ideally be from May 2018 August 2018. The exact dates are flexible depending on the students availability. It is assumed that the internship will be fulltime (40 hours/week) during the summer. Interns will receive a stipend. The work will be designed to execute with little supervision at the Denver Tech Center corporate office, and may include travel to one or more of Newmonts sites. There is ample opportunity for internal networking around the company. The intern will be responsible for implementing specific mine engineering projects during the course of his or her internship, as well as supporting the day-to-day activities of the department. The exact projects will be determined according to the interns availability, interest, skills, and experience. Possible projects include: -Research into topics including mining methods, ventilation, mines planning systems, equipment, and mine optimization. -General support to the Mine Engineering Team for planning, data analyses and reporting -Benchmarking of mine performance, production and cost information -Support cross functional collaboration on projects with Resource Modeling such as stochastic mine planning. The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive. Training & Experience Qualifications: -Graduate students preferred, graduating in December 2018 or later, enrolled in Mining Engineering programs.
