    The Community Counseling Center is an inter-disciplinary mental health site staffed by Psy.D., MFT, and Social Work students. We invites applications for candidates with training, clinical practice, and supervisory skills to work as part of our team.

    The Community Counseling Center invites applications for licensed adjunct faculty to supervise Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) and Professional Clinical Counselor (PCC) Trainees.

    Job Description:

    The Community Counseling Center (CCC) of Azusa Pacific University (APU) is an outpatient mental health clinic providing a variety of services to children, families, and adults who may be suffering from multiple losses, bereavement, major depression, bipolar and anxiety disorders as well as other clinical syndromes or conditions. The clinic is a training facility staffed by supervised graduate students representing three disciplines (Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Social Work) as well as faculty/staff affiliated with APU. The CCC provides the local and surrounding communities a comprehensive range of services for the prevention, intervention, diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. Services may be rendered in person or via telehealth at the clinic or in multiple settings in the field (e.g., at local school districts, community agencies, or other city locations, etc.).

    The CCC is currently seeking a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to 1) provide administrative and clinical oversight, supervision, and training of MFT/PCC Trainees/Associates in order to prepare them, professionally and clinically, for advancement within the MA Program in Clinical Psychology, and into licensure; and 2) oversee the entire MFT cohort at the CCC. The LMFT reports to the Executive Director. The position is ultimately accountable to the Department of Behavioral and Applied Sciences.


    Responsibilities:

    Administrative

    • Conducts onboarding interviews and provides orientation and ongoing training and clinical supervision for MFT/PCC Trainees/Associates participating in the CCC-based program, including issues related to policies, procedures, and documentation specific to seeing outpatient community clients.
    • Completes end of semester evaluations for each student
    • Maintains ongoing communication with the Executive Director, other Supervisors, and the Directors of Clinical Training
    • Assists Trainees with crisis situations, such as child abuse reporting
    • Attends department and community based meetings
    • Participates in clinic program development and quality improvement

    Clinical Supervision

    • Provides weekly group supervision for 10-14 trainees/interns (two to four, 2-hour groups)
    • Assigns caseloads and related duties
    • Reviews case records, ensuring quality and maintenance of proper clinical documentation
    • Audits documentation on a regular, weekly basis
    • Remains available and “on-call” while supervisees are conducting clinical services
    • Provides formative and summative evaluations of supervisees and recommends indicated actions

    Qualifications:

    • Degree : Must have an MA degree in the field of Social Work
    • Years of Experience : At least 2 years post license experience
    • Endorsement of Christian Faith : A demonstrated, vibrant Christian faith compatible with the mission of Azusa Pacific University
    • Cultural Sensitivity : The ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds
    • Registration: Proof of registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker
    • Membership: Membership with the National Association of Social Workers highly desired
    • Child Abuse Training: A copy of your Child Abuse Training Certificate
    • Insurance: Proof of professional liability insurance coverage that carries a limit of not less than US $1,000,000 per occurrence and US $3,000,000 aggregate
    • Time Commitment: Variable (6 or more units per semester, roughly 18 hours or more per week, depending on number of students)
    • Transportation : You will need to provide your own transportation
    • Weekly Supervision Meetings: Render weekly group supervision in accordance with the requirements of the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Audio taping and/or videotaping of sessions with community clients may be required for supervision
    • Confidentiality: Adhere to ethical and legal requirements of BBS and CCC confidentiality policies
    • Compliance: Be familiar with and comply with all CCC protocols and procedures

    Experience:

    Administrative and clinical experience in a community mental health setting, with emphasis on the provision of supervision and mental health treatment service with diverse client populations.

    Workload:

    Assigned supervisorial duties will not exceed 8 units per semester; nor will the units exceed 24 per 12-month period; office hours and additional duties may be assigned. Total workload will be approximately 18 hours per week or more.

    Compensation

    $25.32 - $27.32/hour (Using a 3 unit full semester appointment as a pay guide). The actual hourly rate will be determined by the units, course length, experience, and rank of the candidate. Adjuncts are paid on an hourly basis which includes preparation and teaching time.
