    The SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK invites applications for the position of a PROGRAM COORDINATOR II.  This position provides support for the planning and coordination of programs and activities within the School. This position requires occasional traveling, as well as ability to be available during the occasional evening and weekend activities of the School. The DUTIES for this position include:

     

    • Schedule and organize meetings/events and maintain agendas and minutes as appropriate
    • Ensure implementation of policies and practices
    • Monitor project budget and track expenditures/transactions
    • Coordinate with the school’s finance manager regarding budgets and spending
    • Build positive relationships within the team and external parties
    • Keep all information in software systems up to date
    • Keep all teams and team members up to date with relevant project information
    • Communicate to ensure maximum efficiency
    • Create presentations, summaries, and marketing materials internal and external to the project
    • Support students by providing educational guidance, assist in planning schedules,  recommending courses, and meeting with assigned students  on a regular basis
    • Accurately document student advising in university systems
    • Participate in recruitment and retention events on and off campus as directed
    • Assist in planning and execution of convocation and graduation events
    • Use specialized software for field education, orient users to software, and troubleshoot software challenges with users as needed
    • Use online learning platforms and other related technology to assist and support online 2+2 BSW students
    • Use practicum placement software and other related field education technology to assist and support practicum students, agency field instructors, and Field Education team
    • Coordinate and document collaborative efforts with 2+2 BSW community and tribal colleges at the directions of the 2+2 BSW Program Director
    • Coordinates UM campus and travel arrangements related to 2+2 BSW program
    • Provide assistance to the 2+2 BSW Program Director and Field Education Program Director as directed
    • Assist in planning, execution, advertising and promotion of field education events

     

    Required Skills

    • Ability to self-start and work with limited supervision, perform well in unique and challenging situations, learn quickly, adapt to change and take initiative as appropriate
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as autonomously using critical thinking and good judgment and multitask with a high degree of accuracy
    • Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records including both written and electronic files
    • Proficient in the use of standard office equipment, office computers and related software (e.g., MS Office Suite) and web editing platforms (e.g., Cascade CMS) with the ability to learn new software programs as needed
    • Ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple priorities, pay attention to detail and produce desired results
    • Ability to communicate in a clear, professional, friendly and effective manner both orally and in writing
    • Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work with diverse groups of people, and create/maintain positive relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the general public
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills

     

    Minimum Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalency) in addition to three (3) years of professional project coordination experience; or any combination of experience and education that provides the competencies necessary to successfully discharge the duties and responsibilities assigned to the position.

     

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Social Work degree and at least three (3) years of related work experience in higher education
    • Previous work experience in admissions, recruitment or student advising
    • Previous experience or education as a program coordinator
    • Familiarity with University of Montana student resources
    • Working knowledge of University specific programs (e.g., Starfish, Banner, CourseDog, etc.)
    • Knowledge of University of Montana specific policy and procedure

    Position Details

    POSITION TITLE:                    PROGRAM COORDINATOR II

    POSITION NUMBER:              NEW

    DEPARTMENT:                       School of Social Work

    WORK SCHEDULE:                 Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year. Might require occasional evening and weekend hours.

    SALARY:                                $15.25/HR Current employee’s rate of pay for this position will be determined by the staff compensation plan and will minimally be this posted salary. For questions and details regarding the staff compensation plan, email the Compensation Department.

    UNION AFFILIATION:               MPEA

    PROBATIONARY PERIOD:        Six months minimum

    BENEFITS INCLUDE:               Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
