    POSITION DETAILS

    Stewards Individual Placements (SIP) provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. Participants work with federal agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits building institutional capacity, developing community relationships, and supporting ecosystem health. SIP, in partnership with the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE), seeks a Technical Innovation and Professional Services (TIPS) Training Intern to play an essential role in setting up and developing courses for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 while ensuring accessibility for participants.

     

    The mission of OSMRE's National TIPS Training Program that provides Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977 (SMCRA) participants the technical training on how to better utilize engineering and scientific software to carry out their Abandoned Mine Lands (AML) and/or Active Mining regulatory requirements to protect the environment and people, as well as ensure the restoration of abandoned coal mines. Every year, the TIPS Training Program educates hundreds of students in the use of state-of-the-art scientific and engineering tools.

     

    The Intern will work collaboratively with the TIPS Training Lead and Instructional Designers to perform their role to set up and develop courses for FY 2022, while bringing all courses within Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act that requires Federal agencies’ electronic and information technology to be accessible to people with disabilities. Additionally, the Intern will conduct needs assessments, compiling and analyzing the data resulting from the interviews. Participating in these work activities, the TIPS Training Intern will develop their skills in supporting training development and understanding methods of delivery, while deepening their interest in the course content.

     

     

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

    • Collate and analyze data from needs assessment interviews
    • Set up TIPS courses in FY2022 course catalog and BlackBoard LMS
    • Working with TIPS Training Lead and Instructional Designers to set up and develop courses
    • Ensuring courses are developed to meet Section 508 Compliance

     

     PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Skills in facilitation

    • Experience in developing training

    • Familiarity with Section 508 compliance

    • General computer skills

    • Must be able to read, write, comprehend and speak English. 
    • Basic knowledge of computer systems required. Warehouse Management Systems experience helpful.
    • Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook knowledge preferred.
