    We are looking for a highly motivated individual to fill a Facilities Engineer role on our Carbon Implementation Team located in Bakersfield California. This position reports directly to our Carbon Implementation Manager. As a Facilities Engineer – CCUS Process, you will provide process design, technical review, and guidance for Aera’s Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) strategies to enable long-term oil production. You will be a part of an impactful cross-discipline team leveraging innovation, critical thinking and leadership to develop and implement CCUS strategies.

    POSITION KEY DELIVERABLES:

    Serve as a subject matter expert for CCUS.  Provide process design, technical review, and guidance on implementation of projects aligned with Aera’s CCUS goals and objectives.

     POSITION ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Participate on cross-functional project teams consisting of Aera and contractor personnel.
    • Ensure safe, reliable, operator-friendly, and technically robust designs that meet all Aera and industry standards.
    • Develop and ensure adherence to standards and specifications needed to deliver safe, effective, and reliable CCUS projects.
    • Provide technical support and troubleshooting during project construction and commissioning.
    • Ensure project documentation meets all regulatory requirements and operational needs.
    • Relentlessly drive waste out of the CCUS processes.

    Required Skills

    • Strong facility engineering skills and ability to resolve challenging technical issues.
    • Understanding of electrical, process control systems, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, civil, structural, and piping design.
    • Ability to recognize and mitigate EHS hazards during the scoping, design, and construction phases of a facility improvement project; familiar with process hazard analysis, pre-startup safety reviews, operability & construction review techniques to mitigate risk.
    • Work well within a team environment; strong sense of accountability and willingness to hold others accountable.
    • Familiarity with continuous process improvement and lean methodology.
    • Honesty, integrity, and respect when dealing with others.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor of Science engineering degree (or related technical experience).
    • Minimum 10 years of experience in oilfield facility operations.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in gas processing and/or carbon capture.
