    The United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medical Department of Bioenvironmental Engineering Technical Operations Division (USAFSAM/OEAR) seeks to fill a Physical Science Technician position at the DX-04 level. This position is located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

    OPEN TO CURRENT AFRL CIVILIAN EMPLOYEES ONLY.

    • Position duties include, but are not limited to:

      • Performs a wide variety of Occupational Health Risk assessment consultations in the 711 HPW, USAF School for Aerospace Medicine, Occupational/Environmental Health Department.
      • Provides consultation, via telephone and email, to Air Force technicians globally on the use and management of equipment used to perform occupational health risk assessments, and provide proper documentation of activities related to the career field.
      • Performs as a Physical Science Technician providing occupational health risk assessments, consultation to Department and Division personnel with respect to all aspects of the Bioenvoronmental Engineering Technician career field.
      • Provides consultations related to selecting proper equipment and media to meet sampling requirements, application of appropriate National, DoD, and Air Force occupational health standards.
      • Performs as a consultant in providing operational consultation relevant to Environmental, Safety, and Environmental Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH) databases utilized within the Air Force.
      • Develops occupational health risk assessment documents, presentations, and guidance for Department use in briefings to a broad audience, to include Air Staff, MAJCOMs, and local installations.
      • Ensures Department users of ESOH databases have appropriate accesses and privileges assigned in the system.

    Required Qualifications

    • Ability to develop or modify standard methods in a DoD-wide consultative service for the qualitative or quantitative risk to industrial workers and general population from Air Force operations.
    • Specialized experience to provide consultation related to selecting methods of controlling exposure and selection of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
    • Skill in a broad range of reading equipment and sampling techniques required in performing a comprehensive field survey in support of an occupational risk assessment.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Experience in occupational risk consultation to include telephone and on-site support of customers at all levels of the organization.
