Title: Shipper

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Performs various repetitive shipping duties including picking, order checking, weighing, packing, pallet strapping, labeling, and document preparation in accordance with prescribed procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work from instructional documents, route sheets, shipping pick lists, verbal and written instructions from the supervisor or lead worker
• Pack materials for truck, container, or parcel shipments while ensuring quality of product prior to packaging and maximizing protection while in transit.
• Prepare bill of lading and process as required
• Prepare UPS/FedEx packaging for transport
• Utilize FedEx/UPS software
• Understand and prepare export documentation
• Prepare hazardous material shipments under direction of the team leader
• Load shipments on hand trucks, skids, and transport to loading dock for carrier pick up. Utilize Fork Truck when needed
• Check product into the dept by working with stock room employees and store goods on racks or bins
• Comply with hazardous material regulations (Handling)
• Maintain security in the dock area
• Process transactions via scanning or keyboard entry to ERP system, and carrier systems
• Move material as necessary in performance of duties
• Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials, possible safety hazards and unusual conditions to lead worker and/or supervisor
• Maintain work area and equipment in clean, safe, and orderly conditions
• Follow established company rules and regulations
• Maintain quality standards at all times
• Perform other related duties as required or directed
• Assist entry level shippers in the execution of their tasks
• Assist team leader with the collection of team performance metrics
• Must be organized with attention to detail
• Capable of self-motivation and direction
• Ability to solve problems
• Must possess interpersonal skills

REQUIRMENTS: EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• Basic Mathematical skills - Computer literate
• Ability to read and interpret instructions and procedures written in English
• Ability to operate various motorized and electrically driven material handling equipment including Fork Trucks
• Desire to obtain Hazmat Certification
• Ability to adhere to challenging time constraints within a team environment
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and movement of material (Must be able to lift 50-60 lbs)
• HS diploma -2-4 years of shipping experience is required – Some college is a plus
