JOB OVERVIEW:

Primoris Heavy Civil business unit is searching for an HSE Area Manager in the Baton Rouge, LA area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Responsible for performing field safety audits for heavy civil projects
• Perform accident and incident investigations and reporting as directed
• Serves as a resource to management and internal safety and health committees; acts as a liaison with external regulatory agencies, safety suppliers and other safety organizations
• Establishes safety education and training for all employees to assure understanding of required process activities, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance
• Leads and participates in the investigation and analysis of incidents and near miss incidents to determine root cause of each incident and the required corrective/preventative actions to prevent re-occurrence
• Investigates instances of non-conformance and facilitates the determination of the root cause
• Conducts risk assessments to determine physical hazards and applicable state and federal program requirements for individual job sites
• Provides input to management
• Ensure that federal, state, company, and site-specific policies and procedures are enforced
• Conducts safety audits and administers safety audit program to evaluate effectiveness of safety processes, identify existing or potential risks and recommend corrective/preventative measures
• Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
• Monitor and recruit area field safety personnel per project requirements
• Additional duties as assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor of Science in Safety or 5+ years relevant work experience
• 5+ years’ Safety experience on heavy civil/roadwork projects preferred
• Must be well versed in OSHA and DOT regulations
• Intermediate computer skills required, particularly Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written
• Traffic Control Safety Certification and Road Flagging certification preferred
