    Chromalox Inc is a $220 million international electric thermal solutions business with an ambition to double in size over the next 5 years through organic and acquisitive growth. Recently acquired by the Global Spirax Sarco Engineering Group ($1.5B Annual Revenue/ $8B Market Cap), Chromalox is transforming it’s business model from selling electric heating products to providing advanced thermal solutions while integrating with another Spirax Sarco acquisition of Thermocoax, a France-based thermal electric heating business. These business actions require transformational change of the organization in terms of sales talent capability, organizational culture, and sales results.

    The Environmental, Health and Safety Intern role is an apprenticeship as an EH&S Generalist. As an Intern you will learn the basic functions of the EH&S professional in an industrial setting and will be exposed to different aspects of the manufacturing environment through remote learning, and the potential for direct hands on experience at one of our manufacturing locations. This position reports directly to the Director of EH&S and Sustainability.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The primary responsibility of the EH&S will be to assist with the coordination, development, and implementation of EHS programs for compliance with all applicable local, State and federal regulations. Additionally, the EH&S Intern will be assigned projects to support EH&S departmental initiatives including, but not limited to:

    • Assists with the improvement and development of EHS documentation, including procedures, forms, and checklists.
    • Assists in the development, assessment and improvement of health and safety training.
    • Updates User Records in EHS Data Management and Learning Management Systems (i.e. DoneSafe, Safety Skills, CornerStone, etc.)
    • Reviews and updates Service Team Procedures, Forms, and other documents
    • Updates third party contractor qualification system for Service Team (SalesCo)
    • Assists in the identification of EHS&S related Training Gaps and Needs for the SalesCo Team
    • Develop EHS&S Inspection and Audit Checklist for SalesCo and SupplyCo Teams
    • Assist Sites in completing Functional Capacity Evaluations (i.e. Lifting, Pushing, Carrying Assessments)
    • Monitors the implementation of EHS requirements, including training records and audit/inspection records
    • Collects and analyzes data from multiple sources and databases in order to develop EH&S statistics/trends and determines the most informative approaches to summarizing the data and communicating analytical results.
    • Assists in the development of topic specific EH&S Toolbox Talks based on current incident and audit trends.
    • Must be able to create innovative or customized templates & formats, written reports & presentations, and training materials.
    • Work location will be primarily remote (telecommuting) due to COVID-19 restrictions and does not require mobilization to a site or office location, but travel to visit a site or field location may be required. Must be able to participate in company paid visits to manufacturing and field locations, if needed.
    • Must be able to lift 25 pounds

    Required Skills

    • Currently enrolled in a Bachelors Degree Program; or higher, pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or other related field.
    • Must have at least 3 years of completed course work; ideally a Senior or Graduate Student who is preparing to enter the workforce upon graduation.
    • Strong scientific and mathematical knowledge.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database / recordkeeping applications.
    • Basic knowledge and/or understanding of federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to safety, health, and environmental programs.
    • Prior experience developing and creating written EH&S plans and programs, desired.
    • Prior experience with recordkeeping or managing databases, desired. Will be required to interact with Contractor Pre-qualification Software, including ISNetworld, DISA, Veriforce, Avetta (Browz).
    • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Chromalox will not offer sponsorship for this position.
