As the MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT with SAFCO PRODUCTS, you will be responsible for keeping our facilities clean and organized. In addition, to custodian duties, the Maintenance Assistant will be required to respond to repair calls and assist with Maintenance projects as needed.

This full-time position reports directly to the MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR and is located at Safco’s manufacturing plant in Milford, Iowa.

Required Skills

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

• Work as the interface between waste disposal company and Safco
• Dispose of trash throughout the facility including outdoor trash containers
• Maintain cleanliness of the plant floor by operating floor scrubber
• Perform maintenance tasks as assigned based on skill level
• Comply with quality and safety regulations to create a safe work environment for everyone
• Complete building maintenance per schedule and assist with Maintenance when needed
• Ensuring a safe environment exists
• Maintain facility to required level
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior maintenance experience is a plus
• Experience in a wood / metal manufacturing plant a plus
• Must be able to understand and perform general work using a formalized preventative maintenance program
• Must be willing to get Power Industrial Truck (PIT) certification by Safco
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
• Must be able to stand, bend, twist, and lift for 8+ hours per day
