  • Responsibilities

    As a member of the Saratoga Race Course security staff, the applicant will be responsible for preserving order and providing outstanding customer service for patrons and employees within and around the Race Course premises and protecting both the premises and persons therein.

    During the racing meet, July 21 thru September 4, 2017, the hourly rate of pay will be $11.00 per hour. There are late afternoon and night shift differential of 5% ($11.55) and 10% ($12.10), respectively.

    • Foot patrol of tracks premises, buildings and stable areas. Detect signs of intrusion or damage to property and ensure security of doors, windows and gates on all NYRA premises.
    • Respond to alarms and disturbances and alert appropriate personnel.
    • Monitor and authorize entrance and departures of employees, patrons, vendors and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of all NYRA premises.
    • Journal entries of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized person(s), disturbances, unusual occurrences, or events.
    • Notify supervisor of patrol desk in cases of emergency, such as accidents, injuries, fires or presence of unauthorized person(s).
    • Circulate among the visitors, patrons and employees to preserve order, protect, and secure NYRA property and premises.
    • Answer questions, give directions, and provide information to visitors, patrons and employees.
    • Screen all individuals entering NYRA property, and prevent passage of prohibited articles into and onto NYRA premises.
    • Inform individuals of rule infractions and/or violations. Deter, detect and report any suspicious activity to a supervisor.
    • Escort persons with the proper authorization to specific location.
    • Control motor vehicle, pedestrian and horse crossing traffic, together with crowd control to ensure safety of all individuals and horses.
    • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications
    • Eighteen (18) years of age.
    • A high school diploma or GED is required.
    • NYS Security Guard license is required; paid training provided.
    • Willing and able to stand for long hours inside or outside in all weather conditions.
    • Able to work up to six (6) days per week including holidays.
