The 711th Human Performance Wing, (711 HPW), School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM), Aerospace Medicine Department (FE), Aerospace and Operational Medicine Studies and Analysis (FES), Operational Support Team (FESO), seeks to hire a mid-level DR-03 Senior Lead Statistician in Dayton, Ohio. The selectee will serve as the cross-functional research team lead in biostatistics, data management and statistical analysis.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Supports the AFMS enterprise-wide OST program by developing and leading the analytical components of the program.
- Serves on a cross-functional research team as a leader and SME in biostatistics, data management, and statistical analysis.
- Leads analytical cell, assigning tasks among team analysts, overseeing work to completion and ensuring quality of delivered work products.
- Manages integration and analysis of diverse, multivariate data sets to quantify relative risks to unit operational effectiveness due to human factors issues for squadrons throughout the USAF.
- Oversees development, validation, and implementation of predictive models to continually refine the ability to accurately identify populations/units at highest risk.
- Given program objectives, it applies scientific/technical expertise to analyze and advise on the design and execution of the enterprise-wide OST program and base-specific health interventions through the development, use, and analysis of statistical information.
- Manages analysis of pre- and post-intervention data from identified high-risk units to quantitatively define the effectiveness of the targeted interventions employed.
- Serves as a reach-back consultant in matters of data analysis for OST personnel.
- Contributes statistical and analytical support to the development and publication of metrics, reports, and briefings illustrating processes and performance of OST programs enterprise-wide.
- Serves as an instructor in the initial and recurrent training for OST personnel.
- Supports OST continual quality improvement efforts.
- Makes recommendations related to selection, promotion, reassignment and appraisals.
- Trains team members in methods and techniques of team building to ensure tasks are accomplished.
- Mentors team members/ensure fidelity to established development processes, and provide feedback to leadership regarding development issues.
- Coaches team on development of COAs/problem-solving methods & identification of solution boundaries.

- Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade, DR-02 (GS-13 level), or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include operating in an analystics environment working with DAF population health and administrative data.
