  • Responsibilities

    This is an entry level position that is responsible for assisting the accounting and operations teams with project accounting duties. The junior staff accountant will work closely with the staff accountants to assist them in successfully executing several aspects of project accounting for multiple projects concurrently.

    Responsibilities:

    Assist in the accounting for multiple projects throughout the project lifecycle, including (but not limited to):

    job set up in the accounting system

    entry of schedule of values and budget updates

    review and posting of subcontractor invoices

    creation of payment applications in conjunction with the Operations Team

    Assist with the collections of project receivables at the discretion of the staff accountants

    Lien waiver tracking and collection

    Project closeout

    Work closely with the Staff Accountants and Operations Team to effectively assist in project accounting, including accurate job costing and budget reporting, timely processing of subcontract invoices, timely submission of Skyline invoices, invoice accuracy, and timely collection of receivables

    Develop a thorough understanding of project accounting procedures.

    Correspond with subcontractors on issues including invoicing, issue resolution, waiver collection, etc.

    Develop proficiency in the project accounting modules in Timberline (Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate Development)

    Identify and resolve task-related issues, and escalate to management for resolution as appropriate

    Responsible for acting as the primary backup for Accounts Payable on an as needed basis

    Responsible for assisting with ad hoc projects at the discretion of management and staff accountants on an as needed basis

    Experience & Education

    Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent

    0-2 years recent accounting experience

    Qualifications:

    Construction industry and/or AIA invoicing experience preferred

    Experience with Timberline accounting software a plus

    Task oriented; willingness to drive others to meet deadlines as needed

    Resourceful: willing and able to track down answers

    Ability to work effectively and calmly in a deadline driven environment

    Strong oral and written communication skills

    Strong problem-solving skills

    Extremely organized, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously

    Strong computer skills-particularly Excel

    Communicate professionally with both internal and external contacts
