Export Operations Agent-International Freight Forwarding

Our favorite client is hiring for their STL office. In this role you will perform a wide variety of duties related to handling their customers ocean and air export shipments.  You must have a strong ability to communicate effectively  both verbally and in writing.  Excellent customer service is  important for this role as well as the ability to resolve problems efficiently and independently.  You are a part of a team but are also given the autonomy to make decisions that solve problems and that support your customers needs.

Strong industry knowledge is a must as we are looking to add an experienced freight forwarding operations person to our client's growing team.

• Able to think creatively in order to optimize profitability and customer service for the department.

Duties:

• Strictly follow Ocean and Air Export SOP for correct handling of all shipments.
• Thoroughly read, understand & follow the Export Compliance Program.
• Be available to attend compliance seminars – internal and external.
• Familiarize yourself with service contracts, buying rates and establishing similar agreements.
• Familiarize yourself with all products available, including cargo insurance.
• Assist in obtaining the best possible terms and rates from vendors.
• Maintain excellent relationship with customers, vendors and agents.
• Maintain a professional attitude and business communication. Overnight replies are always required.
• Cooperate with sales department to grow business.
• Update customer profiles and maintain a strong customer relationship
