    Job Description

    SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) seeks full time Drug Procurement Optimization Analyst based in Juneau, Alaska.

    SEARHC is  one of the oldest Native Alaskan healthcare organizations. With a staff of approximately 1300, SEARHC serves remote, rural, coastal communities across the scenic inner passage of Alaska with its two hospitals and multiple outpatient clinics. This position is located at SEARHC headquarters in Juneau, the state capital of Alaska.     The Analyst will review financial aspects of medication-related supply chain to assure best available contract pricing, access to special pricing and spot buys, efficient inventory management,  vendor management, group purchasing organization (GPO), IHS, and wholesaler relationships, standardization, supply-chain related information systems and technology, and monthly variance reporting related to drug costs and budget. Analyst must have a thorough understanding of supply chain and Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) best practices. Additionally, position serves as the primary contact within pharmacy for the Finance Team. The management of supply chain is critical to the success of SEARHC in ensuring that we supply the right product to our patients at the right time. The Drug Procurement Optimization Analyst will report to the Sr. Director of Supply Chain and AP, and work collaborative with Pharmacy Director and other clinical leaders in the areas of drug availability, and best available pricing structures through various procurement models.

     

    Basic duties:directly manage the inventory management and mitigation of medication shortages by leveraging technology and predictive ordering processes; oversight of automation related to pharmacy stockroom inventory management, pharmaceutical contracting and GPO optimization activities, evaluate outsourcing needs for high-risk compounded sterile products, and ensuring compliance with DSCSA provisions; oversee pharmacy’s obligations in the order-to-pay process and will work closely with finance to assure the process is completed in an accurate and timely fashion; seek opportunities to improve quality, cost, and productivity within all aspects of department and health-system medication supply chain in collaboration with the consortium pharmacy director and pharmacy team as well as SEARHC Financial leaders; some travel required.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Preferred, bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited organization (either pharmacy or finance).
    • Minimum, Associate’s degree related to pharmacy, business analysis, or supply chain, and extensive pharmacy supply chain or healthcare finance decision support experience.
    • 3-5 years prior experience with pharmacy inventory management systems and or
    • healthcare procurement and or,
    • financial decision support and or,
    • pharmacy distributing management experience and or,
    • previous experience in pharmacy supply chain or preoperative supply chain.
