This position is located at Southern Correctional Institution, Troy, North Carolina. This is a close custody facility housing male offenders. This position is responsible for providing supervision of subordinate staff, conducting shift line-up, making shift assignments and inspecting all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post. This position is responsible for conducting investigations and performing searches of persons, places and objects. Responsible for completing, reviewing and maintaining time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations and administrative forms. Makes security inspections of the facility and grounds; monitor posts to ascertain that officers are alert, that discipline is being maintained and that assignments are carried out properly. Perform rescue functions to include CPR, basic first aid, physically removing people from dangerous areas and using firefighting equipment to include fire hoses, extinguishers and breathing apparatus. Responsible for identifying training needs and coordinates delivery of training to subordinate staff. This position works closely with and reports directly to Correctional Captain III and/or Correctional Assistant Superintendent.
